Here's our picks and data driven strategy to help you win your 2025 British Open Golf Pool. Whether your playing in a standard 6 tier pool by odds, or any other type of tiered pool setup, make sure you are using data to inform your picks this year.

General Golf Pool Picking Strategy
- Pick guys that will make the cut
- Pick guys that others won't
- Use data, like past results at the tournament, odds, etc. For these picks I used our free British Open Power Rankings tool. I assigned weight to Odds, Recent British Open Finishes, and Recent Major Tournament finishes. Give it a try to do your own research.
Tier 1 Pick: Xander Schauffele
Xander is due for a triumph return to the podium at the British Open.
He won the British last year. 2025 majors so far have all been top 30s.
Look for Xander to be more of a 'sleeper' pick in Tier 1 this year, as most people will be picking Rory, Rahm, or Scheffler.

Tier 2 Pick: Viktor Hovland
Vik is the only tier 2 golfer to make the cut in all 2025 majors so far. Nuf said.
All Tier 2 Pick Options & Data
Tier 3 Pick: Cameron Young
Young is trending the right way with a T4 in the U.S. Open last month, and strong British Open finishes the past 3 years: T31, T8, solo 2nd.
He might fly under the radar in tier 3, making him a great pick.
All Tier 3 Pick Options & Data
Tier 4 Pick: Harris English
You'll see a lot of blank boxes in the power rankings tool for tier 4 - because a lot of these golfers haven't qualified for the OPEN in the past.
English on the other hand has some experience - plus, he has made the cut in the last 7 majors!!!
All Tier 4 Pick Options & Data
Tier 5 Pick: Brian Harman
Consider Harman in tier 5 - his Open Championship resume is VERY good, as well as all the other majors.
He has a win and a T6 for 2 out of his last 3 Open appearances.
He could be a popular pick here, but worth it based on his track record.

Tier 6 Pick: J.T. Poston
Poston has the best major performances during 2025 of any golfer in tier 6.
Hopefully he can make the cut at the British. That is the name of the game with your tier 6 pick - you just need him to make the weekend.
